I graduated from Wartburg College in 1987 with a Bachelor of Music Education with a piano emphasis.  I feel fortunate to have been a member of the Wartburg Choir for 4 years.  Touring Europe for 4 weeks during my senior year of college was a highlight for me.  I have taught vocal music at the following schools: Rockwell-Swaledale, Sibley-Ocheyedan, and Lone Tree.  I enjoy singing, playing the piano, and composing music.  I love to share music with other people.  I have been teaching vocal music at Clarion-Goldfield-Dows since 1994.

First of all, I believe that all students can learn.  Music is a great way to communicate with others.  However, all students need to know what kind of learner they really are. I look at at this way.  Each one of us either reads notes or doesn't, which means we are either music readers or directional singers.  No matter what kind of learner you are, every student has the ability to learn.  I usually tell students I will help you learn, but I shouldn't have to do it for you.  I want each student to be an independent learner.
