Middle School Students:  Since school will soon need to sadly end for the summer, I am requesting that there will not be any book check outs after May 19th.  I will be trying to get all books back and on the shelves for inventory. Cowboy Basketball Camp Registration is now being accepted.  Camp is July 24-28 in the high school gym.  Students going into grades 6-8 next year the camp is from 10:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.  Students going into grades 9-12 next year camp is from 1:30-5:30 p.m.  Cost is $50 if registered by May 1st, or $60 if registered between May 1st and July 24th.  Checks can be made payable to CGD High School.  Write “basketball camp” on the memo line.  If you need a registration form or have one to turn in, see Coach Holmes at the middle school or Coach Lantzky at the high school.  You can also go to the following link:  http://mrlantzky.weebly.com/cowboy-basketball-camp-2017.html

 

8th graders, there is a sign up sheet for high school cheerleading in the middle school office.  Try-outs

will be on Thursday, April 27th at 5:30.  You should be there by 5:10 at the latest. Tomorrow, Monday, and Tuesday there will be practice at the high school beginning at 6:30 a.m. There will also be practice right after school next Wednesday. 

 

8th graders, CGDHS Dance Team practices will be Monday, May 1st and Wednesday, May 3rd @ 6:30 a.m.- 7:30 a.m. in high school gym.  Try-outs are Thursday, May 4th @ 6:45 a.m. in CGDHS Gym.  Pick up a packet of information and forms to be completed in the middle school office if you are interested in trying out. 

 

There have been some date changes for Drivers Ed.  The new dates will start in May 23rd, 24th, 25th, 30th and 31st after school from 3:30-5:30.  June 1 and 2 will be 8-10 in the morning. All t he other dates will not change through the 13th of May.  Any questions contact Mr. Harker.

 

Girls and boys in grades 4, 5, 6, & 7 are invited to explore the fun of making their own play in 4 sessions with the 4th session including a free performance for their family and friends.  This is offered at the Iowa River Players Community Theater in Rowan in a program called Dramapalooza.   

Registration is online at  iowariverplayerstheater.org.  Drama Workshop begins Saturday, May 6 at 1:30-3:30 and continues on Sunday afternoon, 1:30-3:30. The same schedule repeats the next weekend, May 13th and 14, with a performance for friends and family at 3:30 on Sunday.

All participants are especially invited to try out for "Charlotte's Web" (May 22 and 23 @ 6:30-7:30).

Weather is looking good for Saturday April 22, 2017 and the paint has arrived!  We would like 6 kids to be there by 9:00 am and Adam Russell will be there to direct and supervise them.  This could take multiple hours to complete so please tell the kids to bring a sack lunch, snacks, lots of fluids and SUNSCREEN.  Thanks to everyone a pitching in.  What great community teamwork.

Its that time of year again! Security Savings Bank is holding a Poster Contest for Grades 2nd-6th. Each poster must answer the question, “Why is it important to know about money?”  The state wide winner will receive a $600 deposit and 2nd and 3rd will receive $300 deposits. SSB will also be selecting the top 3 winners from our school and winners will receive a gift basket. Entries due by April 19.

Sports

There will be a meeting for 8th grade girls who are planning on going out for volleyball in the fall.  Meet Friday at 12:45 in Mrs. TerHark’s room.  Get your lunch on a Styrofoam tray, bring paper and pen to take notes.

 

No open gym until Thurs. April 27. 

 

Out of season weight lifting and agility for female athletes grades 6-12 with Coach TerHark.  Meet in the H.S. gym. I will have more times and dates for you at our first workout session.
