Clarion-Goldfield-Dows Elementary Announcements

1.  Today is Friday, June 1, 2018.  It is Day 3.  Today is the last day of school!  Have a safe and healthy summer and we will see you in August!

Attention Parents/Guardians:  The last day of school for students is Friday, June 1st at 3:20pm. Students will be participating in a track and field day.  Please make sure that they have appropriate clothing (shirt, shorts and tennis shoes) – it will be hot.  Attendance Awards Ceremony and Salute to 5th Grade will begin at 8:45am in the gym.  Parents – if you plan on attending please sit upstairs.  Students will be sitting on the bottom bleachers and the floor.  PrepKindergarten – 2nd grade track and field day at 10:00am; 3rd grade -5th grade track and field day at 1:00pm (Others are welcome to come and cheer/watch)

2.  Happy birthday to Rosha and Jackson!  Celebrating on Saturday are Reed, Kennedy and Ruby.  Celebrating on Sunday are Josue and Miguel!

4.  Wright County Conservation and Raejean Chapman are once again offering Dirt Diggers Nature Day Camps.  DD1.0 will take place June 19-21and is for kids going into K-2 grades.  DD2.0 will take place June 26-28 and is for kids going into 3-5 grades.  Please visit Dirt Diggers or Wright County Conservation Facebook pages for more information including the registration link.

5. CGD is participating in the summer food program this year starting Monday, June 11th through Friday, August 3rd.  There will be no meal on July 4th.  The main hot meal will be served at the high school.  Other locations will provide a sack lunch and one hot meal per week.  Locations are:  Presbyterian Church in Goldfield, the Clarion Aquatic Center and the Dows Swimming Pool.  Meals are free to individuals 18 years or younger.  Adults may also eat at a price of $3.55 per meal.

6. If your child is looking for something to do over the summer to maintain their skills, they may continue working on their Lexia Core 5 program. Students have their usernames and passwords memorized. The first time they join the site they will need to enter their teacher’s email. 7.  Friday, June 1st is the last day to register for a discounted rate for the Wild West Basketball Camp.  Please visit this http://bit.ly/Wildwestcamp2018 for a registration form!  This camp is open to all boys and girls going into grades 3-12 in the 2018-19 school year!  Wild West Basketball Camp will be July 16-20.  It is open to all boys and girls going into grades 3-12.  Last year was a blast and we hope to see as many campers back as possible!  Registration forms will be sent home with the kids sometime this week.  Registration is due by June 1 for a discounted rate.  For more information, please email blantzky@clargold.org, or visit http://bit.ly/Wildwestcamp2018 for a registration form.  

8.  The Food Bank of Iowa will be in Wright County on the following dates and times:  Belmond - Trinity Lutheran Church, 2:30pm – 4:30pm on June 26th and August 28th; and in Eagle Grove – Memorial Hall, 4:30pm-6:00pm on July 3rd.  Anyone can receive assistance from the food bank. 

9.  Attention 5th graders: The YSF football program needs 5-10 cheerleaders who will be in 6th grade this fall. YSF games are played Sunday afternoons and practice will be 1 hour 1-2 days/ week during the season.
