Clarion-Goldfield-Dows Elementary Announcements

1.  Today is Wednesday, May 23, 2018.  It is Day 3.  There is NO EARLY OUT today.

Attention Parents/Guardians:  Wednesday, May 23rd and Wednesday, May 30th are now FULL days of school.  We will NOT have early outs on those two days.  The last day of school for students is Friday, June 1st at 3:20pm.

2.  Happy birthday to Hunter!  Celebrating on Aug. 6th – Angel and Miss Odland; Aug. 8th – Juan and Dre and on Aug. 9th – Addysen, Ava and Renesme!

3.  Wright County Conservation and Raejean Chapman are once again offering Dirt Diggers Nature Day Camps.  DD1.0 will take place June 19-21and is for kids going into K-2 grades.  DD2.0 will take place June 26-28 and is for kids going into 3-5 grades.  Please visit Dirt Diggers or Wright County Conservation Facebook pages for more information including the registration link.

4.  Mrs. Jensen’s class will tour on the middle school today.

5. CGD is participating in the summer food program this year starting Monday, June 11th through Friday, August 3rd.  There will be no meal on July 4th.  The main hot meal will be served at the high school.  Other locations will provide a sack lunch and one hot meal per week.  Locations are:  Presbyterian Church in Goldfield, the Clarion Aquatic Center and the Dows Swimming Pool.  Meals are free to individuals 18 years or younger.  Adults may also eat at a price of $3.55 per meal.

6. If your child is looking for something to do over the summer to maintain their skills, they may continue working on their Lexia Core 5 program. Students have their usernames and passwords memorized. The first time they join the site they will need to enter their teacher’s email. Any time after that they will just need their username and password.   lexiacore5.com

7.  Wild West Basketball Camp will be July 16-20.  It is open to all boys and girls going into grades 3-12.  Last year was a blast and we hope to see as many campers back as possible!  Registration forms will be sent home with the kids sometime this week.  Registration is due by June 1 for a discounted rate.  For more information, please email blantzky@clargold.org, or visit http://bit.ly/Wildwestcamp2018 for a registration form.  

8.  4th and 5th grade students-  It’s not too late to register for the Fall 2018 5th/6th YSF Youth Football program. We had 15 players sign up at our registration.  For more information, contact coordinator Lynn Seaba at 515-603-9006.

3.  Congratulations to our Special Olympians!  They brought back lots of 1st and 2nd place finishes!  Thank you for representing CGD Elementary – Chance, Jon Carlo, Sydney and Julie!

4. Mrs. Cero’s 5th grade class will be touring the middle school today.  Mrs. Jensen’s class will tour on Wednesday.

9.  The Circus is coming to Belmond June 2nd and in honor of this, the Belmond Art Center is going to be displaying student artwork for a month. The only requirement is it is based off of the Circus. This could be drawings, paintings, Collage, Clay…exc. Please email or see Mrs. Downing for details if interested! Show off your artwork!

4. Mrs. Thompson’s 5th grade class will be touring the middle school today.  Mrs. Cero’s class will tour on Tuesday and Mrs. Jensen’s class will tour on Wednesday.

5. Please remember to return all Library books to Mrs. Keeling – Congratulations to 1st grade for being the first class with all books returned.  5th grade came in 2nd place and 3rd grade right after.  Way to go students!!
